Steve Novak is a Milwaukee basketball icon and one of the most accurate three-point shooters in NBA history. A native of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, he first rose to national prominence at Marquette University, where he helped lead the Golden Eagles to the Final Four in 2003 and finished his collegiate career as the school’s all-time leader in three-pointers made.
During his 11-season NBA career, Steve played for nine different teams, most notably the New York Knicks, where he led the league in three-point percentage (47.2%) during the 2011–2012 season. Known for his "Championship Belt" celebration—a nod to his Wisconsin roots and Aaron Rodgers—he became a fan favorite for his elite perimeter shooting and high basketball IQ.
Off the court, Steve is the founder and designer of 2s, FREEs & 3s™, a unique shooting competition billed as "The Ultimate Shooting Competition." Designed to be the "Great Equalizer," the event allows players of all ages, genders, and abilities—including an adaptive division—to compete on an even playing field.
After retiring from the court in 2017, Steve transitioned into broadcasting, serving as an analyst for the Milwaukee Bucksfor eight years before joining MSG Networks in 2025. He remains deeply involved in philanthropy, specifically with the MACC Fund, and resides in the Milwaukee area with his wife, Christina, and their three children.
